Firm History

A private company, Cougar Global Investments was founded in 1993 by Dr. James Breech who had devoted the previous 12 years to developing the Cougar Global investment management platform.  Cougar Global manages assets for high-net-worth individuals, families, foundations, trusts and corporations in Canada, the U.S., and Europe.

Cougar Global has developed a proprietary investment process that constructs globally diversified portfolios of ETFs designed to perform in accordance with clients’ investment objectives.  The firm’s investment process employs downside risk management methodology and tactical asset allocation to protect client’s assets in down markets.

In 2010, Cougar Global was selected by LPL Financial, the largest-broker dealer in the U.S. as one of the four original ETF strategists for its Model Wealth Portfolio (MWP) platform.   As a global tactical asset allocation ETF strategist, Cougar Global provides its investment solutions for LPL advisors in the U.S.



Cougar Global Investments is a registered Portfolio Manager in Canada and as a non-resident investment advisor with the Securities and Exchange Commission in the United States.
